Mary E. Wilson

A lifelong resident of Oromocto, Mary grew up in a military family with 4 big brothers. Her mom hails from Newfoundland and her military Dad from Nova Scotia.

Mary laughs as she credits her mom for winning her the election on Facebook.

Mary says she has always looked up to her brothers Wayne, Gary, Bob and Tom, who were aged between 8 and 13 when she arrived on the scene. She remembers always feeling very protected by her brothers and being very proud of them. She regularly stays in touch and seeks their advice.

As a kid Mary enjoyed 5 pin bowling, swimming and figure skating. The swimming and skating habits have stayed with Mary to this day. Especially skating on an outdoor rink with a thermos of hot chocolate nearby.

Mary also enjoyed reading and listening to music as a child. One time her Dad agreed to pay for cartoon drawing lessons. The cartoon habit did not take hold. However, Mary also learned how to sew as a youngster and she still sews specialty hoodie towels as gifts for friends with newborn babies.

Mary was valedictorian of her Class of 1980, which was also the year? she met hockey legend Bobby Orr.

After school Mary enjoyed a career as an insurance broker prior to working for 2 decades with the CFIB.

Mary's husband Rob's family is well-known on Base Gagetown as long-time operators of Wilson's Catering.

She has always loved pets, her family currently enjoying the company of cat Skotti and Springer Spaniel Ocean.

Mary and Rob and their dogs have always enjoyed long walks through NB Trails in the winter and along the beach in the summer.

Rob is well-known for his coaching abilities and Mary can be found along the sidelines cheering and helping with ticket sales and other volunteer activities.

Mary says she is settling in to the new world of elected public service and a visit to her facebook page reveals many photos chronicling her activity.
