Parrott

Jim Parrott is a heart surgeon who moved to Saint John in 1990 to start the New Brunswick Heart Centre at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He served as the head of the centre until his retirement in 2007.

Mr. Parrott received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba, and studied cardiac surgery at Stanford University.

He volunteered with Boxing Canada for more than 15 years, offering his medical services at youth events in Saint John and at the 2003 Canada Games. He was elected to represent Fundy-River Valley in the September 27, 2010 provincial election.

Mr. Parrott owns a 150-acre farm where he and his wife raise quarter horses and Australian cattle dogs. The couple has shown their horses all over the Maritimes and North-East United States for more than 25 years. They have also turned part of their farm into a vineyard and winery.

Mr. Parrott is the proud father of two sons and has four grandchildren.
