Support continues to program that encourages reading to children

Original

Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Jody Carr met with Jocelyne Lavoie, president of Le goût de lire, and Bob Stranach, treasurer of Born to Read, to promote their continuous partnership and highlight this year’s collection of books. The department has been supporting the two programs since 2002. The program provides new parents with a bag of books to promote the importance of reading to children from birth. One baby book in the collection is written by a New Brunswick author. As an initiative by Born to Read, A New Brunswick Lullaby was written by Jennifer Aikman-Smith, a supply teacher from Riverview, and it is illustrated by Chris Browne, an art teacher at Leo Hayes High School.
