A matter of trust - The Leadership convention theme

August 21st, 2008

FREDERICTON – Progressive Conservative Leadership Convention Co-Chairs Margaret-Ann Blaney and Elvy Robichaud said that the choice of the next Leader will be about demonstrating to New Brunswickers that they can trust our Party.

“A matter of trust will be the theme that guides our Convention,” said Blaney.

After considering many options, the Rules Committee felt that “...It’s a Matter of Trust” represents the alternative the Party wants to offer to New Brunswickers.

“More and more New Brunswickers feel that they cannot trust the current Liberal government. I agree,” said Blaney. “Our party strongly believes that trust plays an important role in choosing the next Leader of the Party because it will be an important factor when New Brunswickers choose the next Premier of the Province.”

The organizing committee also unveiled today locations and dates of five All Candidate Meetings that will take place throughout the province in September.

“This will be an excellent opportunity for our membership to meet and discuss with accredited candidates,” said Robichaud. “The format will be a balance of formal and informal discussions.”

The All Candidate Meetings will be held in Edmundston on September 12, in Tracadie-Sheila on September 15, in Moncton on September 16, in Saint John on September 17, and in Fredericton on September 22.

The Progressive Conservatives will choose their new leader on Saturday, October 18, 2008.

“The race is shaping up to be very interesting and exciting for our Party,” concluded Blaney.
