Antoon J. (Tony) Huntjens, a Progressive Conservative Member, is the first Member to be elected for the new constituency of Charlotte-Campobello in the provincial election held September 18, 2006. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Legislative Officers and the opposition critic for areas of interest related to housing and seniors.

He was first elected to represent the riding of Western Charlotte on June 7, 1999 and he was re-elected on June 9, 2003.

He was sworn in as Minister of Family and Community Services and Minister responsible for the Advisory Council on Seniors on June 27, 2003, a post he resigned on October 29, 2005.

He earned a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Education degrees at the University of New Brunswick. During his long teaching career, he has helped adult and children alike to upgrade their education. He has been actively involved in the Business Education Council as well as in curriculum development committees. He was president of the Charlotte County Music Festival and spent years as a choir director and a choir member of the Kirk-McColl United Church.

He has two daughters, Jane and Tanya, and two grandchildren, Derica and Peter. His constituency office is located at 89 Prince William Street, St. Stephen, N.B.

Mr. Huntjens and his wife Madeleine live on Little Ridge, near St. Stephen.
